Representative Baker is an attorney in private practice in Brandon. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1987 and is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in the State of Mississippi, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Representative Baker is a member and past president of the Rankin County Bar Association and the Rankin County Rotary Club. Representative Baker previously served as the prosecutor for Brandon and the municipal judge for the town of Pelahatchie and currently serves as the board attorney for the city of Brandon and the town of Puckett. Representative Baker is a former member of the Rankin County Republican Executive Committee.
Representative Baker was first elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 2003, and was reelected, without opposition, in 2007 and 2011. Committees and is a member of the Joint Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment, Apportionment and Elections, Fees and Salaries, Municipalities and Ways and Means Committees. On the Ways and Means Committee, Representative Baker serves as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Public Finance.
Representative Baker was born on May 13, 1962 and is married to the former Lady Collins, a 10th grade English teacher at Brandon Highschool. They have one son, Chase, who attends Brandon Middle School. The Bakers are members of Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
